Dear Larry and Mitch, We are almost at the 5-year point with our relationship and I thought it would be a good time for reflection on how I feel about things. As you know, my background before Larry's was in hotel/resort food and beverage management. During those 20 years I worked hard and was considered reasonably successful (food and beverage director of the year four times, four star resort director, vice president of food and beverage, Ivy Award nominee, Marriott I.D. Management Program grad, BS in Hospitality Management from Penn State and so and so on). Anyway, even with these successes, I reached a point in my career where I realized that something was missing and that continuing to work for large hospitality companies was never going to satisfy that void. What I realized was that I had a real need to create and implement change and be able to truly reap the benefits of my work. I felt the best answer was to be in business for myself. I also knew of the risks involved with a small business startup and decided that a franchise would be the best route. After extensive research and interviews with alternative franchise concepts, I felt best about the potential with Larry's. The franchise representative was knowledgeable, detail-oriented and best prepared when compared to the other companies. I also felt that the concept was unique and viable for the market we lived in. With Larry's providing the training, product development, operational systems, brand recognition and continual support, I was able to develop uncharted territories in both Georgia and South Carolina. After developing 12 successful stores, our future is bright for continual growth. Everything you committed to me during these 5 years you have delivered. You have been honest and supportive of me and displayed an openness in all of your business practices. Every one of your corporate staff has treated me with the utmost of respect and courtesy in all of our dealings and worked extremely hard in providing assistance in all areas. I wanted to take this time to thank you and to let you know how much I appreciate everything that you have done for me and how much I am looking forward to working with you in the years to come. Sincerely, Rick Kerns |

| Dear Larry,
We are bursting apart at the seams! Our business has never been so good! I don't know how long it will last, but for now, it is increasing every day. We expect to surpass your Baymeadows store by the end of the year. With all of the hassle I put you through, I had to tell you this story. One of our first customers in 1998 would tell everyone when she came into our store, "Do you know how many sub shops I pass just to get to Larry's? Five! Five sub shops, just to get to Larry's." Well, her name is Rosie, she's in her forties and she still comes to our store a couple of times a week. For the past year, she would call ahead with a pick up order. She always orders 4 or 5 subs. Last night she placed a take out order with Mary. When she came in, we had a crowd of 4 couples milling around our register trying to decide what they wanted to order. Mary said, "Hi Rosie, here is your order, all ready for you." And handed it to Rosie. Rosie had tears in her eyes and Mary said, "What's wrong Rosie?" And Rosie said, "I have just come from the hospital, one of my best friends has cancer and is dying. He still has a way to go but he won't last long. While I was visiting him, he said he was hungry, so I said, what can I get you, a steak, shrimp, lobster, crab legs, just tell me what you want and I will get it for you." And he said, "Oh Rosie, would you get me a Larry's sub!" Sometimes all of the work and hassle is worth it. |
